Washington's energy code has no middle setting for sunrooms. A room with no permanent heating system, separated from the house by your existing exterior door, is exempt from the state energy code's envelope requirements entirely.

Add a heat pump and that same glass box becomes conditioned space, held to the same standard as the rest of your house — higher-performance glazing, an insulated roof, and additional efficiency credits once it passes 150 square feet.
